Hydration is Key to a Successful Donation

Hydration is important to good health, but did you know it also plays a key role in a successful donation? In fact, the two most important things you can do before a donation are to eat a good meal and drink plenty of water.

We recommend you drink at least 16 ounces of water before your donate. Hydration helps your body maintain good circulation, prevents light-headedness and pumps up your veins to make your blood flow easier.  Caffeine dehydrates you, so avoid caffeinated drinks like soda and coffee before you donate.

Water has lots of other benefits too. It helps to aid in the digestion process, keeps  your body temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, protects your spinal cord and helps get rid of toxins.
