Giving Tuesday - Donate Blood, Give the Gift of Life

Sara Martinez
November 21, 2024

Join the global generosity movement and give the gift of life this Giving Tuesday! Every two seconds of every day, someone needs blood. Donate blood at a OneBlood Donor Center or Big Red Bus blood drive near you today.

When Is Giving Tuesday 2024?

Giving Tuesday is on December 3, 2024, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

What Is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a day to encourage people to do good in their communities. It has since grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

After gathering with our loved ones on Thanksgiving, catching all the best deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity to share your power to donate blood and save lives.

How Can You Participate in Giving Tuesday?

What better way to give back this holiday season than by giving the gift of life! There is no substitute for blood, and it cannot be manufactured in a lab. The only source for patients in need of a transfusion is volunteer blood donations.

  • Donate Whole Blood—Whole blood donations play a vital role in saving the lives of patients with blood disorders, traumatic injuries, and other critical conditions. One whole blood donation can save up to three lives!
  • Donate Platelets—Platelet donations are a lifeline in patient battles against cancer, chronic illnesses, and more. Your donation will help a patient feel stronger right away.
  • Host a Blood Drive—When you host a blood drive, you have an almost immediate impact. Whether you get your neighborhood, office, or club involved, the Big Red Bus can roll up just about anywhere there are blood donors ready to save lives.
  • Help Spread Awareness—If you’re not eligible to donate right now, you can still help increase awareness about the importance of donating blood. Share with us how blood donations have impacted your life, or share OneBlood’s social media posts with your friends and family.

Your small act of generosity can have a BIG impact. Donating blood only takes a little of your time, and it can mean a lifetime for patients in need. Join the global celebration of generosity and donate blood at a OneBlood location near you!
