In April 2022, after some headaches, weakness, and increased bleeding, I discovered I had aplastic anemia. A rare idiopathic disease, my body no longer makes platelets, red blood cells, nor neutrophils for some unknown reason. I then found out I had an antibody to platelets so I can only have HLA matched. I have had “under 2” platelets, a Hgb of 5, and zero neutrophils. I’ve been at the bottom.
Without the donations, I would be dead. I am 32 years old.
Thank you all so much for what you do. I don’t know how to thank the donors, staff, medical professionals, West Florida Infusion Center, everyone involved for helping me live longer for my 2 young babies. Thank you.
