Evelyn

Orlando, Florida

My husband Francis was a severe diabetic. He was a Sgt. in NYC police dept and a History teacher here in Colonial High School. He always encouraged his family to donate blood.

He ended up very sick and through four years had to have both legs amputated below the knees and numerous other procedures. He spent many days in the hospital almost every 6 weeks. I was there working from the hospital to care for him and worked from home as well.

Sometimes he had 3 blood transfusions in two weeks while procedures were being done.

I always promised I would donate blood to give back and help others like he was helped. Unfortunately, he passed away 12/19/2020. We were married 35 years. He is still missed every day.
