James

Saint Petersburg, Florida

I started donating in high school & felt great pride at what I was doing to help my community.  Although I wore the T-shirts I got, I never was one to overly brag about it. It was my personal thing and I enjoyed making a difference.

As I grew and started a family, I laid off donating for a few years. When I started again, I was talked into donating platelets rather than whole blood - and my gallons began to rapidly rise.

Ten gallons turned into 20.

My former employer featured me in a splash picture in their national corporate magazine in a story about employees giving back to their community. I felt a great about a pride in that (and I was only at 25 gallons then)!

Today, I'm 53+ gallons. I've started to think about setting a goal of breaking that 100-gallon barrier!
