In 2015, blood transfusions saved my daughter’s life while she was giving birth to my grandson. He also needed transfusions, as his scalp had separated during the birth.

I was amazed at the thread-thin tube placed in his umbilical cord to give him life-saving blood from a donor I will never know. My daughter and I have always been grateful for the donors that saved both of their lives, people we can never thank except for our donations back.

I have been donating blood for over 20 years. Back then, I never thought I would need it. I am forever grateful. My daughter recovered and my grandson is a thriving, busy 5-year-old.
