Joe

Monroe, North Carolina

Joe has fought a long battle with kidney disease that began in 2000.  Early treatment later led to dialysis and ultimately a kidney transplant.

But when Joe’s body rejected the new kidney, yet another transplant was needed.

Waiting years for a new donor, Joe was hospitalized with complications, requiring two separate lifesaving blood transfusions. Then something amazing happened.

Joe

Joe’s wife Amy – a blood donor since the age of 18 – felt led to participate in the paired organ donation program at Atrium Health and The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  A match was found, resulting in two lives saved through an extraordinary swap.  Amy donated a kidney to the wife of a man who donated his kidney to Joe.

Behind every organ transplant there are many donors. When you donate blood, you’re helping patients like Joe. The Clipstons and their two sons thank donors like you for giving blood, giving them hope and saving Joe’s life.
