I've always seen the Big Red Bus around the city, but I never thought that one day I would be a recipient of the generous donors who take the time out of their day to give blood.
I must start off to say that I am thankful for the company and the donors!
Being involved in a motorcycle accident that required me to have extensive surgery on one of my legs wasn't the end of my trauma.
I was constantly losing blood post-surgery unknowingly, and I fainted mid-conversation with my family.
It was a scary feeling and time for those around me. I opened my eyes in the hospital and was told that I had three blood transfusions while I was unconscious.
I am simply thankful to still be here and share amazing times with the ones I love.
Being a recipient and realizing the importance of and need for blood has driven me to become a donor. I no longer simply continue pass by the Big Red Bus. I stop and donate with hope that I am helping someone as I once was helped!
