Jordon has a genetic disorder that caused him to be born without cilia—a hair like substance that filters germs. He is one of six known cases in the world and is the only known survivor of the condition.
Every three weeks, Jordon receives intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), a blood product derived from platelets, to counteract the effects of the disease. It takes hundreds of units of donated blood to manufacture a single IVIG dose. In fact, every dose Jordon requires takes more than 600 blood donations to manufacture.
While there is no known cure for his disorder, blood donors continue to give Jordon a second chance at life.
