Kevin & Felicia

Morrisville, North Carolina

We moved to North Carolina 4 years ago, and not long after began donating blood together through OneBlood. We consider it a “date,” and one of the best kind because we are giving back to our community while helping give someone the opportunity for a happy, healthy life.

11 years ago the importance of donating blood became all too real to us as our niece Kenya nearly lost her life and the life of her unborn child when her placenta detached at 29 weeks. Patrick was delivered weighing under 4 pounds.

Kenya lost massive amounts of blood both prior to delivery, and again a few days later when she began to again bleed profusely due to retained placenta. Without the many life-saving blood transfusions she received, Kenya would have most certainly died.

It is such a joy to have her and Patrick alive, happy, and well! That is why my husband and I are regular blood donors; it’s the least we can do.
