Larry W.

West End, North Carolina

In November 2021, I became very sick with diverticulitis and required a three- and one-half month stay in the hospital following emergency surgery. While in the hospital, I developed a fistula in my abdomen, as well as an ostomy. This surgery left me being required to wearing a wound pouch which collects bowel from both the fistula and ostomy.

I continue to lose blood through both of these wound sites.

On 05/04/23 I had blood work which showed a need for blood transfusion again, which I have had numerous times. This time within a week continued dropping to 4.9, which is deathly low.

I was so blessed to be able to have blood transfusions at First Health Montgomery campus as an outpatient. This is where I received 3 units of blood in a 12-hour stay and this being where I was able to be given a tag with the ID number of the donor. We are so thankful for this wonderful person who blessed Larry's life in a special way.
