Growing up, Lindsey always had a heart for service. She felt it was her duty to help those in need, whether she was cooking Thanksgiving dinners for Meals on Wheels or raising money to buy blankets and other items for the elderly during the holidays. At the age of 17, she discovered a new way she could impact the lives of others, donating blood.
Lindsey was intrigued by the fact that giving only 30 minutes of her time could help save someone’s life. When the Big Red Bus® came to her high school one day, she didn't hesitate to share her power to save lives. It’s been more than 12 years since Lindsey first discovered the power of blood donation. Since then she has taken her love for serving others and made it into a full-time career.
Lindsey, now an officer with the Orlando Police Department, continues to give of herself to help others.
“Honestly, to me, being a first responder is very similar to being a blood donor. Both are heroes in their own light. My daily job is based on keeping the community safe and saving lives when the time comes. Donating blood to me is the gratification of helping someone in need.”
