I have been giving blood since my first year of medical school. In Miami, I have given over 17 times. I am a strong believer that giving blood saves lives and makes this a better world.
As a physician, I can directly impact my patients and my community, or I can indirectly help others by doing good deeds in the community. For me, giving blood is a good deed. I give the blood and don’t expect anything in return.
I do want to know that my blood went to someone who needed it.
We just had a devastating hurricane (Ian) in the West Coast and many people died. But hopefully my blood donation may have helped transfuse to a victim who required a transfusion or plasma.
I am proud to have my 1 gallon diploma and looking forward for my 2.5 gallon certificate to arrive in the mail and I can hang it on one of the walls in the office so maybe others will also donate and make this a better, healthier world.
