I don't think most people who live an otherwise healthy life think they will need blood from another, but emergencies happen.
Recently, I found myself in the emergency room in need of a blood transfusion. I was frightened at the thought, but the alternative was to go into cardiac arrest or organ failure.
Once the transfusion began, my anxiety was relieved, and after 4 units of blood, I was cleared to be released from the hospital.
I was able to make it home in time to enjoy an Easter dinner with my husband.
What a blessing donors are to those in need, whether routinely or once in a lifetime. The generous gift of a donor is a gift of a lifetime! Thank you!
