Mike & Family

Miramar, Florida

Mike Hernandez’s family would be smaller without blood donors. Donors saved the lives of his wife, daughter, brother and mother-in-law.

“Stephanie nearly died giving birth to our first daughter Molly. She needed seven units of blood to survive, or our second daughter Zoe would have never been born four years later.” The impact of blood donation on Mike’s family continued when his brother David survived chemotherapy with the help of the units of blood he received. David now serves as a nurse, helping others. Blood donors added 15 months to the life of Stephanie’s Mom when she was battling Leukemia.

Mike and Family I am OneBlood March 2017

Because of the impact blood donors have had on his family, Mike and his wife have become regular blood donors. Their oldest daughter, Molly, started giving blood when she turned 16 because she knows the positive impact it has on families.

“Between us we have donated around 100 units of blood locally, as well as elsewhere, because we have lived through the trauma of life hanging in the balance needing doctors, nurses and blood donors to make it through.”
-Mike
