Patricia Z.

Eastlake, Ohio

Hello! My name is Patricia. I’m 76, living in Cleveland, Ohio, and I’ve donated 172 pints of O-Negative blood there. While caring for my 98-year-old mother in Lake Placid, Florida, I’ve also donated 9 pints through OneBlood. That's 22.4 gallons of blood from a lady weighing in at 112 pounds. Born three months premature in 1948 and weighing just 3 pounds, I wasn’t expected to live. I spent months in an incubator, but my story didn’t end there.

I donate because O-Negative blood is universal, especially vital for helping premature babies live. It’s my way of giving back for the full, healthy life I’ve been blessed with. Married for over 45 years, John and I have 4 adult children who have blessed us with 7 grandchildren. I was a teacher for 27 years, involved in church ministry for 35 years, and interpreted for deaf friends for 30 years. I am a musician, composer, multi-published #1 bestselling author on Amazon, and I am on a mission to reach a million hearts about putting self-care first for a happy, healthy life. Donating blood is easy and a powerful way to help others in need. I encourage everyone to give as often as possible. When I pass, I have a plan in place to donate my body to science. I urge others to consider doing the same. It’s one more way to help our needy world and leave a lasting impact. Just as we care for others by donating blood, we must also care for ourselves. Putting self-care first is not selfish, it’s essential. A healthy, fulfilled life allows us to give back in even bigger ways. Whether through a blood donation or taking time to nourish your body and soul, you are making a difference that matters. Let’s all take small steps toward self-care and save lives together. You can find out more about my mission to put self-care first by going to my website. Healthy, happy NOW, PJ
