Shannon

Hickory Grove, South Carolina

Shannon was experiencing severe stomach pains for a month before discovering she had a large ulcer that had begun to bleed.

She was transported to the hospital on the very ambulance she works on as an EMT. After her hemoglobin and potassium dropped to below-normal levels, she received two units of blood and a unit of potassium. Shannon made a full recovery within a few days of receiving the lifesaving blood.

Shannon

Today, thanks to donors like you, Shannon is back in the ambulance helping others through her job as an EMT.  She also stays busy as a mom of three.

“I truly feel that without the generous people who take time out of their busy lives to donate blood, I would not be here today,” said Shannon, who plans on donating blood regularly when she becomes eligible again. “It gives me a whole new outlook on life! I know there are plenty of people who are a lot sicker than I was, but if my story will motivate just one person to donate, then that is three lives potentially saved.”
