I decided to donate in 1969 when I was eighteen. The family member of a co-worker needed blood. Over the years I have given several times. In the late 1980's my mother was diagnosed with leukemia; that is when I learned more about donating my platelets. Although I do not donate on a regular basis, I donate when I can. It is nice to be able to help someone in need. Thank you to the staff of blood banks around the world for making it possible to help someone in need!
