Thomas was on vacation when he received a call from the OneBlood team.  Officials from Halifax Hospital in Canada had put out an international plea to locate a blood donor for a premature baby. Thomas had the blood type that was the perfect match for the baby.  "When I was  told a premature baby needed my special blood type how could I not return right away," says Thomas. 

Thomas is a retired Navy helicopter pilot and fight instructor and had spent his whole career serving his country.  As a platelet donor, Thomas continues to serve his community on a regular basis by donating and has given platelets over 77 times.
