The first time I donated blood was over 40 years ago.  I didn't care if there was a record of it.  Recognition and rewards never factored into my reason to donate.  As far as I know, I have never needed blood for a medical emergency.  I never had a friend or family member with a blood crisis.  I have always donated for one reason.  I donate just because I can.  I can do something the costs me nothing but can actually help save the lives of people I will never meet. That is reward enough for me.
