I started giving blood with another collection organization when I was 18. I had just started working 4-12 shift at a large printing company. The boss came around and said let’s go we’re going to give blood at the American Legion post in the small town where the plant was located. He says you get 1.5 hours break from work and get paid! Also they give you good snacks afterwards. What a great boss, huh!
Afterwards I realized how beneficial it was when my wife was having surgery and we used from the blood bank! Also how by giving it saves 2-3 lives per donation. So besides my better half I have helped 100-144 people. I was hooked. Now almost 12 gallons later, at 66, I am planning on giving as long as they can take it. And the perks by One Blood in this area are a nice way to thank donors for doing their share.
