In 1972, my dad needed heart surgery. I was in my 22 and donated blood for the first time. Ever since then I've donated and my husband does also. But he has a tradition that has all the techs smiling. After each donation he asks to hold the bag for a minute. He bows his head and says a prayer that his blood will help save someone, then kisses it and gives it back!
