My nephew Gary was a sniper in the Marines in 2006 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was the leader on a dangerous mission and stepped on an IED. When the explosive clicked, he shouted “IED!” The soldier behind him covered his head so he is only blind in one eye and deaf in one ear. Gary was 21 years old and is our hero. I vowed from then on that I would donate blood and maybe some soldiers would be recipients. This is my way of keeping our Gary still alive. I have donated 18.375 gallons. God bless America and our brave soldiers.
