I have been donating blood since I was 16 and never had cause to receive blood. Recently I had a cancer diagnosis and after surgery and such I ended up bleeding internally and lost over half my blood. Short story is that I ended up receiving 3 transfusions. I was out of it for the first one so have no idea what type it was but the second and third transfusions were reds. For years you guys have been asking me to donate platelets because of my AB-. Once my blood has recovered after my next surgery, I will sign up for platelet donations.
