When we discovered we were starting a family in 1957, my wife’s Doctor came out to my car as I was waiting in his parking lot, to see if I knew my blood type. I told him O neg. with a huge smile of relief, he said, “Great.”

It wasn’t long until I was on our local hospital list of new blood donors for newborn babies. Many nights I was up past midnight waiting for that newborn to transfuse them.

I’m 87 years old, and have donated regularly anytime there was a need. I have no idea how many gallons I have donated, but I’m so glad that I could help someone on life’s road. Will donate until they tell me, no more.
