Donors Centers close at 3pm, and blood drives end at 2pm on Wednesday, December 24 and OneBlood will be closed on Thursday, December 25.

I am a neonatal nurse and have been one for 41 years. I take care of babies born as young as 22 weeks gestational age and 15 ounces to full term newborns. I have administered many transfusions of PRBCs, platelets and fresh frozen plasma. These products have been lifesaving. Some babies, in particular growing premies, need a boost in their blood count and will receive a transfusion.

This helps them to move forward and work on their journey of going home. Blood donors may not know how much they are helping these “bundles of joy” and their families. A big thank you to all donors!
