The next day she got on the phone and called the hospital to inquire about the treatment for her dad. He was placed on a waiting list and fortunately on April 18th, he received the plasma and late that same night he opened his eyes and moved one of his hands for the first time after 15 days of being in a coma.
He was extubated on the 25th, but unfortunately, he went into distress and had to be re-intubated approximately 5 days later. As of today, May 3rd, he still remains in the hospital under delicate conditions. I also tested positive for COVID-19 on April 6. After quarantining and then re-testing, thank God my results came back negative.
My inspiration to donate convalescent plasma came from James, who was the donor to COVID-19 survivor Michael, who was the patient from Orlando that my wife had read about waking up from a coma after receiving the plasma treatment.
