OneBlood Safety Protocols for Increased Dengue Fever Activity. Donors Urged to Respond to Follow-up Communications.

I made my first blood donation when I was a senior in high school (1975). The Blood Bank came to our school and set up. I was very intrigued and interested in the whole process. More than 50 years later, (and working on 57 gallons), I still regularly donate blood. Blood is one of the few things that cannot be duplicated artificially. There is someone that is always in need of blood or blood products and as long as I remain healthy, I will continue to answer the call to give.
The photo is from August 2023 after I hit the 55 gallon mark. I am so proud of this accomplishment and hope by sharing my story, it will encourage other people to donate and hopefully become lifelong donors. If all eligible persons would donate just 1 time per year, we would never have a blood crisis. I am honored to have helped everyone, big and small, young and old, with my donations. I will continue to donate until I am no longer able to do so.
