I was a very active 78 year old until I went from playing 4 days of volleyball one week to barely being able to walk 10 days later. It was discovered that my hemoglobin was critically low. After many months of tests, and many blood transfusions, it was determined that I have blood cancer. I am on a treatment plan to hopefully cure the cancer. In the meantime I am blood transfusion dependent and depend on the generosity of others who donate their blood. I am glad that I donated blood in the past, but I have now consumed much more blood than I donated. You never know what life has in store for you.
