My story is not heartwarming. I started donating to get over my extreme fear of needles. I remember standing outside of the Big Red Bus in the Publix parking lot and muttering that I could do it, even though I did not think I could without passing out. Yes, I faint when needles are pointed toward me. A lady passed by heard my mutters, and said "You'll be fine." I was. I still get woozy. Fear is fear, right?
But I am getting better. I don't get sick before doctor's appointments any more. It's been years, and I will keep making progress. And once every two months, I get a cookie! Never underestimate the power of a cookie promised. (And that saving lives thing is good, too.)
