I received a phone call on the evening of 10/8, requesting an urgent need for platelet donation. I agreed to go in early 10/9, and my blood pressure was too high to donate. She suggested I go to my doctor to get it checked out.

I went to the emergency room directly after, and it was then I found out I was having a heart attack. That same night, I had a cardiac catheterization which showed 90% blockage in my left anterior descending artery, which resulted in an immediate balloon angioplasty and stent insertion.

I know why it is called a silent killer, because I really had no symptoms. I am sharing this so everyone can know that symptoms of a heart attack vary, and because platelet and blood donations also save lives!
