I have been a blood donor for over 30 years and platelet donor for the last almost ten years. I'm 85 years old and still trying to get donations in ever two-three weeks. Sometimes my iron is a little low, but I just eat a lot of red meat and broccoli, etc. before going the next time and that usually works. I hope to continue donating until the end--whenever that will be!
I give at the OneBlood at Tyrone Center in St. Petersburg. They are exceptionally helpful and accommodating there. I understand why others can't give, but it is so easy for me, I want to try to help make up for those who can't give. I give for kids like Bode. What a brave little guy! God bless him.
