During my time at Miami Southridge Sr high I’ve accomplished a lot but I will always return back to the blood drive function. Helping run it for the past 3 years every time brought such a light into my years at Southridge. The people, the other organizers, and the students made it such a memorable time. My role was to sign people in/out give and take papers and make sure the donors got to the right location safely. Every time I hope for the role and thankfully I've been successful at securing it.
But I've also done every other job imaginable just to help out where I can. I gave out pizza and shared laughs with donors, I made sure the organization itself ran smoothly and made sure to recruit here and there. Now people know me as many things "cpr girl" "mrs nurse" and one of my favorites "the blood drive buddie". It brings me joy to see people becoming a community and a family and through the OneBlood blood drive function that became a reality. I've gone to the ceremony as well and it was such an eventful experience. From the food and fun to the dancing and grooving. I loved the fact there was a theme and at the end we all watched as schools got congratulated and students got scholarships. Not only has this brought me joy and a purpose but it also made me realize how much I love the healthcare field. I am now about to help run my 5th blood drive and I simply just can't wait.
