Stephen and Michael are identical twins, born premature at 25 weeks. Approximately 30 years ago, blood donations helped saved their lives. They spent more than 3 months in the NICU at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Family, friends, and strangers came from states away to donate blood to help them survive.
Due to their small size, weighing in at one pound two ounces, they only required small amounts of blood at each transfusion, leaving the remaining unusable.
Without blood transfusions they would both not be here today. Thanks to blood donors, prayers from family and skill of the amazing doctors and nurses at the St. Francis NICU, Stephen and Michael were able to leave the hospital healthy when so many other babies were not as lucky.
Stephen and Michael are able to live a healthy life, graduate from college, begin careers, and start their own families.
“This would have never been possible without the help of generous blood donors. We want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who donates, and to encourage others to give whenever possible. You truly never know who you can help."
-Stephen and Michael
"We also want to thank OneBlood for giving us the opportunity to share our story. Since High School we donate whenever we can as a small attempt to give back when so much was given to us."
