DeSoto Lodge No. 105: A Tradition of Giving Back
Since 2014, DeSoto Lodge No. 105 F & AM has paired its monthly Pancake Breakfast with a meaningful mission: saving lives. Held on the fourth Sunday of every month, the breakfast becomes even more impactful during the odd-numbered months, when the Lodge also hosts a community Blood Drive in partnership with OneBlood.
In an effort to encourage participation, the Lodge offers a complimentary breakfast to anyone who donates blood or contributes nonperishable food items for the local ECHO food bank. This simple act of generosity has yielded remarkable results. Over the past eleven years, members and guests have donated 456 units of blood, potentially saving more than 1,368 lives across Hillsborough and surrounding counties. “There is no greater charity than the gift of life to those in need,” said one Lodge member. “As Masons, we are committed to supporting our communities through charitable initiatives like ECHO and OneBlood.” Organizing a blood drive is easier than many realize.
